Most people today suffer from some sort of allergy, whether it is plant or animal related. However, food allergies can be dangerous, particularly in children. How do you know if your child has a food allergy?
A food allergy can be enormously frightening – even life threatening. First, you need to know the symptoms that can be present with such an allergy. If your child is vomiting, has diarrhea, cramps, swelling, eczema, hives, itching in the throat, tightness in the throat or lowered blood pressure, it is important to take him or her to the hospital immediately. All of these are common symptoms of a food allergy.
However, you should be aware that food intolerance will often mimic the symptoms of a food allergy. So, even if your child has symptoms similar to those described above, it might not be an allergy. A medical professional will be the only person able to determine which it is.
What foods most commonly cause food allergy symptoms? Actually, there are several very common foods that can set off allergy symptoms in your child, including soy, milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, nuts and wheat.
In many cases, your child will outgrow this food allergy, though this is not always the case. Make sure that you follow your doctor's advice in dealing with any food allergy, including waiting to give your child certain foods until they are a certain age.

Comprehensive Family Dentistry. Life is about choice. Everyone deserves a choice, especially when it comes to your own health care. The office of Dr. Ronald Ray believes the patient is in the drivers seat. Dr. Ray believes the patient needs information before treatment decisions can be reached. Recommendations are made by the doctors; but, decisions are made by the patients. This philosophy goes a long way towards lessening the anxiety of going to a new dentist. The office is particularly child friendly and several of their chair side assistants have a pediatric background. Prevention is the best medicine so their hygienists take the time to explain gum health and the benefits of fluoride. Patients also seem to like their new smile created by "white" fillings and veneers. When it is time to head to the dentist, go to Ronald Ray, D.D.S. in Ashburn, Virginia, the home of comprehensive family dentistry.
